What our treatment procedures have in common is that they work with your body’s mechanisms in order to allow healing to begin.  Even surgeries are minimally invasive to clear the way for your body to bring itself back to health.

I do also work with patients who have undergone other surgeries and treatments. The results are usually very satisfactory in those cases too.

In the state of Oregon, as a naturopathic physician I am licensed to perform the necessary surgeries to correct various rectal diseases such as fissures, inflamed rectal papillae and others.  These are minor surgeries completed here in the clinic, under appropriate local anaesthesia, and the patient is generally able to walk out soon after the procedure is completed.

The state regulations for naturopathic doctors also allow me to prescribe the small range of pharmaceuticals my patients need, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anaesthesias, muscle relaxants and pain medications.  We are also very careful not to encourage or cause addictions to these drugs in any of our patients.

A partial list of the procedures we perform :

  • Diathermy - electrically-generated heat, used to cut and/or seal tissues

The same instruments (anoscope and protoscope) which provide a clear view in the examination are also used in our treatment. Thus, the interior of the rectum and the treatment itself is in full view of the doctor at all times.  In most cases, their use is almost pain-free.
