A First Visit To The Clinic
Consultation
On your first visit to our office you will be welcomed warmly. We are well
aware that seeking help for a distressing problem is a big step toward
resolving it. You will then be asked to fill out our required
forms (New Patient History form and
New Patient Insurance form) which
will help us understand a bit about you and your condition.
Dr. Steven Cranford will then talk with you and ask you some specific
questions to determine if our treatment approach will benefit you.
At that point, either Dr. Cranford will let you know that he can
help you, or, if he cannot help you, you will be referred to one
of our experienced colleagues who specializes in your type of case.
Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Examination
After consultation with the doctor, you will
have a complete examination.
We use specially-designed instruments of proctology with lighted
tips to provide a clear and direct view of the interior of the
rectum. Diagnosis can be made without guesswork. In most
cases exams are performed easily and painlessly.
Treatment Plan
Once all the information and examinations
have been performed, the doctor will tell you his findings and
recommendations for treatment, and describe a detailed treatment
plan so you can see “the full program” that’s
necessary to treat your condition.
Insurance Coverage
To find out in advance if your insurance
covers our treatments, you may call us directly at 503.232.7609. Because
we know that coverage can determine treatment
choices, we offer to review your available
coverages, at no cost to you. Please
fill out the New Patient Insurance
form and that
information will be emailed to us.
For patients who have little or no applicable insurance coverage,
flexible payment programs can be arranged.
Travel Arrangements
In addition to having many patients in the
local region, we are quite familiar working within the accelerated
timeframes of patients traveling
to Portland to be treated. Call and we can assist with
your travel plans and accommodations.
Treatment of Hemorrhoids
Our primary treatment for hemorrhoids is
not a "secret method." It doesn’t involve injections,
surgery, or burning with heat or electricity. It is an electronic
treatment with an "accepted practice" rating called the Keesey
treatment. Its use requires the doctor to have patience,
skill, and a very thorough working knowledge
of rectal ailments.
As far back as the 1930’s, the staff doctors of our clinic
saw the great benefits of this treatment
method, and in fact have added many important
refinements and expansions to its development
over the years. Since
then, at Sandy Blvd Clinic we have given
more than 10,000 Keesey treatments as part
of our integrated treatment methodology. Our
patients are very happy with their results.
Treatment of Other Rectal Diseases
For rectal diseases other than hemorrhoids
require other types of treatment,
but at the clinic they are all "ambulatory treatments" (up
and walking around) and all without hospital surgery.
